Our Family Trip to Nassau, Bahamas

Back in 2008, we took our first Caribbean vacation to Nassau. The blue waters, island vibes, and mix of activities made it perfect for our crew. Here's what we did during our week in the Bahamas!

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the Wyndham Nassau Resort. It was a great home base—comfortable and close to everything we wanted to see.

Downtown Nassau

Exploring downtown was one of our best days. The colorful buildings and busy streets gave us a real feel for island life. We took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the historic area, which our son absolutely loved.

There's so much to see downtown. We browsed the Straw Market for handmade crafts and souvenirs, climbed the Queen's Staircase (65 steps carved from limestone in the 1700s), and visited Fort Fincastle. The fort sits on the highest point of the island with amazing views of the harbor.

We also checked out the Pirates Museum and walked along Bay Street, the main shopping area. We grabbed lunch at Hard Rock Cafe.

Our Day at Atlantis

This was definitely a highlight. We bought a day pass to visit the aquarium.

The aquarium was incredible. We walked through clear tunnels with thousands of fish, sharks, and rays swimming all around us. The exhibits are beautifully designed, and it was the perfect way to spend the day exploring marine life together.

Final Thoughts

Nassau gave us exactly what we wanted—beaches, history, and plenty to keep our son entertained. It's a great destination if you're looking for a family-friendly Caribbean getaway!
