Montego Bay Adventure: Waterfalls, Local Flavors, and Caribbean Vibes

We touched down in Montego Bay ready for some relaxation, and the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa became our perfect home base.

Life at the Hilton Rose Hall

The lazy river alone was worth the stay. Floating along while soaking up the sun—we hit it up multiple times a day, and it never got old.

The resort really came alive at night, though. The evening performances were great, with local talent bringing that authentic Jamaican energy. One of the most entertaining nights was the crab races—yes, actual crabs racing —and people really get into it.

Conquering Dunn's River Falls

We booked a private tour and headed out to Dunn's River Falls. The falls cascade 600 feet down limestone rock into the Caribbean Sea, and you can actually climb them.

The drive took about an hour and a half, which gave us time to take in the lush countryside. Once we got there, we joined the human chain making its way up the terraced waterfalls. The experience is part teamwork, part adventure—everyone links hands as you navigate the natural limestone steps created by the flowing water.

Heads up: wear water shoes with good grip and prepare to get soaked. The water is refreshing, especially on a hot day, and there are natural pools along the way where you can take a break.

Finding Authentic Jamaican Flavors

After working up an appetite at the falls, our tour guide took us to a place where locals actually eat. No fancy stuff, just authentic Jamaican food with bold flavors that had clearly been perfected over the years.

Easy Shopping Access

Back at the resort, we used the hotel shuttle to hit up the nearby shopping plaza. Super convenient when you need souvenirs or just want to browse without dealing with parking.

Montego Bay gave us exactly what we needed: a relaxing resort vacation with lazy river floats when we wanted to do nothing, and the freedom to explore waterfalls and hunt down incredible local food when we felt like venturing out. There's still more coastline to explore and more BBQ to eat.
